Lyrics
I'll give you this start
I'll give you these letters
And if you're so smart
I'm sure you'll find your way
I'll give you this part
Like it's all that matters
Like I've shown you my heart
And now you'll find your way
Cos I, I've been as hungry as you are, as you are
And I, I've been as driven as you are, as you are
And I, I've been as eager as you are, as you are
And I, I've been as hungry as you are
And you're almost at the wall now
You're almost at the wall now
Don't mess this up
Don't forsake what I've given
You drank from this cup
And now it's down to you
So don't mess this up
When it's barely written
Because you're selling the lot
And now it's down to you
Cos I, I've been as lonely as you are, as you are
And I, I've been as empty as you are, as you are
And I, I've been as lowly as you are, as you are
And I, I've been exactly where you are
I've been exactly where you are
Cold shouldered in the desert of the west
Feel the ticking of the bomb inside your dress
If you let me I will take you in my arms
And I wil lead you through this long night
And you're almost at the wall now
And I will lead you through this
And you're almost at the wall now
And I will lead you through this
And you're almost at the wall now
Quotes
"When I wrote The Wall, I got really stuck. You have to understand that I don't wake up in the morning and say "Today I'm going to write about this". These images and words come out as I play and I have to work out what I'm trying to say. So I got halfway through this song and I had no idea what the next step was. The song was about the process of writing songs, or doing anything else creatively. When you're writing or producing a series of images or anything with some kind of connectedness to it, there's always this point where you go "What comes next?" and you've no idea. So I said "You're almost at the wall, now" and there it was. By the time I finished writing the song, I was sobbing."
