Phew!

I've written and recorded "Power Cut" in two and a half days, which is a record given how slow this kind of music making can be. Mostly, I did it by not sleeping. Sounds frickin' awesome, except for one synth part I just cannot get to be in time, no matter how hard I try. And it really needs to be there. *sigh* I think I shall put it to one side and work on it at a later date.

I keep coming back to "Mary" - a song I wrote and partially recorded some time ago. It is proving problematic to produce. Not sure what the problem is. *ponders* It's been kicking my ass for months though. :(

Here begineth the story

Today the challenge begins: I'm shut up in this house for a year writing and recording an album which I genuinely believe reflects me to the best of my abilities. I need something I can be proud of as an artist, and the first album just wasn't that. For a start, I'm a keys player, not a guitarist (though I play a wide range of instruments, the piano is the one which is my best friend).

So I decided to put everything I had into this gamble. Let's see what the year brings. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

[Edit - some time later] I Should have admitted here that I had already completed some tracks, sort of as a way of learning all the new technology I'd recently acquired. Thus, at the beginning of this year long challenge, that track count was already:

Can't Be Won't Be Suburban Paranoia Delay These Are My Catechisms (although this went through several incarnations and I'm not sure when the final version was recorded)

Mary was currently in her very early version, which was not very good.
